Rowling introduces these ideas and refuses to elaborate. Like, there are wizard roofies, right? and "Hey, isn't this interesting? Wouldn't you like to know more about this?" and you respond, "Yes, actually, that seems like a big deal," and she acts all disgusted like you're some kind of a freak for wanting to know how wizard roofies are dealt with in the magical society.

Also, if you weren't there, you can't imagine the effect that Draco shouting "I don't need protection!" could have on a theatre full of teenagers.
